About
A home for the people who build with us.
Halley is an independent AI lab. It is where we keep our flagships, share the open source behind them, and put our names on the work.
The name
Named for a prediction that came true.
In 1705 Edmond Halley used Newton's laws to predict that a comet would return in 1758. He died sixteen years before it did. It came back on schedule, the first time anyone had predicted the return of a comet.
That is how we want to work. Reason it through from first principles, build it, and let the work prove itself.
How we work
- 01
Open by default
Most of what we make is open source under permissive licences, so you can read it, run it and build on it.
- 02
Measured, then claimed
Every number on our project pages links to the benchmark or document it comes from. We would rather say less and have all of it be true.
- 03
One job, done well
Each project solves one problem and works on its own. Together they add up to a stack, and the best of them become flagships.
- 04
No ranks
Everyone at Halley is a collaborator. Every project carries the names of the people who made it.
The people
Friends who build together, with room for more.
